Sat- Jul 17, 2004, As a follow up to last night's Installation Dinner Celebrations at the Westin Hotel Kuala Lumpur, The "Centennial Green Project" kicked of at the Women's Aid Organisation (WAO) children's refuge, in the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur. Over 60 Rotarians, and their family members from 4 different Rotary Clubs, representing 4 countries participated in this project.
At 8.15am, a delegation of 20+ visiting RI Matched Club Rotarians led the PP Lawrence, Pres.Michael and Dr.Arthur met the our sister club members from Taiwan, Singapore, and Phillipines, and guided them from the Westin Hotel, KL.
We arrived at 9.15am at the refuge, and started the day with a specially Catered Breakfast (Sponsored by Rtn Felix) and special nasi lemak (Sponsored by PP Renga). To welcome the 4 Rotary Club's and their members were WAO President Meera and their ED Ivy.

At 9.30a we kicked of the Centennial Green Project by planting a variety of scrubs, herbs, and plants at the refuge.

We then jointly planted a fruit tree (Cempedak) at the base of the refuge. This effort was aided by Asst Govenor Kong. It is our intention to return to this place in friendship, to taste and to share in our fruits of international friendship.

On cleaning up, we then proceeded to carry out a series of songs and dances by Rotarians. This started with a very exciting line dance by members of the Rotary Club of Pantai Valley (below)

It was followed by the rich baritone voice of Perry (RC Makati Das Marinas) - below. who did an impressive solo.

The 15 member delegation of RC Tien Chung (taiwan) entertained the children with a chinese folk song which talks about friendship.

This was followed by marvellous rendition of the "macarena" with the children and Rotararians from all 4 clubs. Rotarians from RC Bukit Timah (Singapore) were led by VP William!(Below red strip shirt)

Past Presidents Perry (Makati DM) and Esther (Pantai Valley) also had a hillarious time with the children with their hip shaking and twistings (Below). They were aided by 8 students from a local college.

Mid way through, RC Tien Chung departed to catch their flight back to Taiwan. They were duly escorted by Rtns Vincent, PP Lawrence and Peter, who managed to host a special "bah kut teh" session prior to reacing KLIA (airport).
We ended at 11am, with a quick photo session. (minus RC Taiwanese).
Many children at this refuge are under protective custody, and are thus exluded from most photos for their safety. (If any Rotarian has taken photos that morning, do not circulate, display or distribute photos of the children, without first checking with the shelter)

After this event, the other Sister Clubs were respectively cared for by
- RC Makati - ISD Dr.Arthur
- RC Bukit Timah - Pres.Michael and Rotarians Mike & Chris
