Medical Camp at Bestari Jaya (Formerly Known as Batang Berjuntai) by Rotary Club of Pantai Valley

On 1st March 2009, the Rotary Club of Pantai Valley (RCPV) together with People Service Organization, Klinik Kesihatan Kuala Selangor and a team from Tun Hussein Onn Eye Hospital carried out a meaningful medical screening project for the people in Bestari Jaya.
The 2-month preparation led to the 3rd consecutive Medical Camp carried out by RCPV in a day. In order to provide an overall health screening, RCPV members had tirelessly coordinated and solicited help from various parties, good samaritans and volunteers. The local government clinic sent their team to provide general health screenings and also pap smear tests for women. Tun Hussein Onn Hospital provided eye-screening services. 4 GPs and 1 Gynecologist (Rtn Dr Arthur Samuel) were at hand to carry out cholesterol & diabetes tests and overall heath screening. There was also a Dentist (Dr Lalita - RCPV Honorary Member) to look into the oral healthcare of all patients.
People Service Organization played an instrumental role by helping to disseminate information about this medical camp and providing transport for all residents who seek medical assistance (from the plantations surrounding Bestari Jaya) to the camp.
It was heartening to see more than 250 well-deserving people turn-up to our Medical Camp from 9.30am until 6.00pm. The volunteers and the doctors worked tirelessly to ensure everyone who came and seek medical assistance was attended to. RCPV members and their families came in full force to help out with the registration, logistics, F&B and everything else. More than 30 RCPV members and their families were there to support this meaningful cause. The hot sunny day did not deter their spirit of helping others. In fact, most members stayed and lent a helping hand until the end of the camp.
Special thanks to our medical team leader Rtn Dr. Arthur Samuel, Dentist Dr Lalita, Dentist Dr. S. Gnanajothy, Dr Anthony Wong, Dr Wong Ping Foo, Dr Gan Eng Meng, Dr Ben Abraham, the Eye-Screening team from Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital, RCPV members, their families and friends. They have unselfishly volunteered their time and effort to make this medical camp a success.
