Meeting Report No.1, July 2008

President Ivan’s 1st Meeting
I am making this Report to be uploaded to our website so that our members who were not present during the meeting could appreciate what transpired during the meeting and keep themselves informed of what is going on in the club.
The meeting starts as usual but this time President Ivan Christie took the chair from Ian. Our new President was expected to be nervous on the first day sitting on the Chair – not that he sits on the floor always.
After declaring the meeting to order, Ivan rang the bell for the first time and pass the meeting to our new Sergeant-at-arms, specially imported from UK, George Mckie. (Remember to pronounce his KIE as KAI.) He immediately called on PP Mohamad to handle the Loyal Toast and asked PP Michael the RI Toast.
President Ivan made a short announcement and pass the floor to PP Steve to introduce our new or rather our old member back to our club, Rotarian Param. Steve as usual having the gift of the gab did a good job and Rtn Param later in the evening share some wine to those present except those who cannot drink.
After the introduction, George called on PP Michael to handle the Recognition session with the assistance of Lay Yeong going round to do the collection. Total collected was RM53.00 only.
After this President pass the floor to PE Santhi to update us on the Installation Dinner. He reminded us all that the theme for the Dinner is “Shanghai in the 20s” – meaning we got to dress up like the gangsters and mafia during that time.
Just before Ivan closed the meeting he invited IPP Ian to make a presentation to our friend Serge a Certificate to recognise him for the Fund from Shell raised by Rtn Serge for the Club’s project.
The attendance for the day was good with about 25 members present. I hope our Attendance Chairman Lay Yeong can update us regularly on our Attendance Chart.
The official meeting was then closed and the club’s first Assembly for the year starts.
