US Ambassador Recognises RCPV's 10 Year Communtity Service Efforts with US Navy

On 23 April 2007, the United States Ambassador to Malaysia, His Excellency Christopher J. Lafleur, was invited to the Rotary Club of Pantai Valley (RCPV) as a guest speaker. The meeting was called to order by President Chee Hong at 7.30pm and he delivered his welcome address to a strong audience of 63 people comprising members of RCPV, visiting Rotarians from Rotary Club of Sri Petaling, Representatives from 2 children homes and 2 elderly homes respectively and guests from the USA Embassy. Also present was Datuk Lew Sip Hon, former Malaysian Ambassador to USA.
His Excellency Christopher J. Lafleur talked about “Cooperative Relations between the United States and Malaysia" at 8.30pm after the dinner. He mentioned about the similarities and differences between Malaysia and USA, and the importance of cooperative relations between both countries.

After his speech, Rtn Ivan Christie provided a summary of COMREL (Community Relationships) Projects carried out by US Navy Volunteers and coordinated by RCPV. RCPV together with the US Navy COMREL Volunteers have been involved in COMREL projects for the Malaysian Community since 1997. Under this project, RCPV will identify homes that need help and coordinate the volunteers to paint, clean the homes and interact with the children, disabled, elderly, etc. From July 2005 – Feb 2007 (18 months), a total of 23 COMREL projects have been completed. Rumah Destiny, Rumah Amal Kanak Kanak, Shekinah Home and Wesley Outreach Society are part of the homes that have greatly benefited from this COMREL Projects. They were invited to speak about their experiences and President Chee Hong also presented RM1,000 each to the representative of all 4 homes.
RCPV also donated 2 units of wheelchairs each to Shekinah Home and Wesley Outreach Society. Meeting was adjourned at 9.30pm.
