US Navy Community Relations COMREL 2007

The US Navy once again concurrently conducted their annual community relations projects in many countries worldwide, and their oldest active warship, USS Kitty Hawk which had been commissioned since 1961, was docked at Port Klang for a few days to allow hundreds of service men and women an opportunity to volunteer themselves for community works in the Klang Valley. Rtn Ivan Christie continued to represent Rotary Club of Pantai Valley to assist them through months of liaison between the US Embassy and five needy homes for the 2-days community service programme

Effort Towards Self Sufficiency for a Development Centre for the Disabled 2007

Further from our recycling project with Beautiful Gate Home,  a Development Centre for the Disabled on 12th August  2006, our Rotarian S.Santhirasegaran’s company, Pioneer Credit Management Services Sdn Bhd have been supporting Beautiful Gate Petaling Jaya Centre by outsourcing regular work to them.

Vocational Visit with WAO to Forest Reserve Apr 1

 

FRIM offers all walks of life a back-to-nature experience whilst enjoying the flora, fauna, landscapes and the remains of an old Orang Asli settlement. A waterfall and river cutting through this forest reserve adds serenity to this luxuriant landscape. For the more adventurous ones, check out the four jungle tracks: Keruing Trail, Rover Track, Engkabang Trail and Salleh Trail, all of which will take visitors through some of the spectacular secondary forests in Malaysia. If you want to seek additional adventure, why not try the fragile-looking Canopy Walk, which is located 30m above the ground. At 10am more than 50 Rotarians and Friends gathered at the factory of Royal Selangor Pewter. We were given a special tour by Jason Christie. This tour took us through the world renowned factory. Photos and story contained.

Clean Water Project at Kampung Orang Asli Jalan Gombak

On the 30th March 2007, Rotary Club of Pantai Valley (RCPV) in collaboration of Datuk Dr Rahman Ismail (Member of Parliament for the District of Gombak) and the Fun Stompers have installed a water filter at the community hall of Kampung Orang Asli (Orang Asli Village) at Jalan Gombak, Selangor. Major (R) Peter Yew and fifteen (15) of Destiny Home’s children in Taman Melawati were waiting to receive President Chee Hong and Rtn. Ivan Christie on the morning of 29th December 2006. Charity Movie "The Wild" in Aid of United Voice Apr 16

The Rotary Club of Pantai Valley is holding a charity fund raiser,  on April 16th 2006 @ KLCC Suria(Kuala Lumpur City Center) in aid of "United Voice", which is a Self-Advocacy Society of Persons with Learning Disabilities in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. UV membership include person with Down Syndrome, Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Cerebral Palsy and Global Development Delay. Tree Planting at Women's Shelter for RI 100 Yrs Birthday Feb 23

Rotary International Celebrated it's 100 year Anniversary on Wednesday, Feb 23To mark this event, the Rotary Club of  Pantai Valley organised  a Tree Planting Project at WAO (Women's Shelter) The event which took place from 7.30am - 8.15am, was participated by District Governor Perumal (Photo Right), and Meera (President, WAO). President Michael and 11 other rotarians participated in this project. Many thanks to Set Fee and Ai Lin for organising the event. The birthday celebrations were followed by (6.30pm-8.30pm) a Dinner Meeting @ KL Golf & Country Club

Feeding the Urban Poor at Back Streets of KL April 24

Twenty Plus Rotarians gathered at 10pm on April 24th, 2005 and donated food to the poor and marginalised of urban downtown KL for the 100 hours of service. Amongst those on the streets at midnight were drug addicts, prostitutes, transgender people, HIV victims, mentally ill, etc. Click for story and photos.
RCPV Tsunami Fund Donations Refocussed for Long Term Development

In the weeks following the Tsunami Disaster in 2004, RCPV made a donation of RM9,500 to the relief efforts in Sri Lanka cia RC Green Town (Ipoh) which was personally coordinating relief efforts. Due to the overwhelming relief support from other organsiations, our funds were not required for relief efforts. This funds will now be refocussed on long term redevelopment plans for projects supporting women and children. The recognition to donors will be made on this coming week's Berita Centennial (Governor's Newsletter). Read message. (Click)

Pantai Valley Rotarian Donates RM2.5M Land and RM435k for School

29 July 2004, The Star (Page 25, NATION) reported the donation of land (RM2.5M) and cash (435k) by the company of Rotarian Chidam, infulfillment of his late father's wishes (Dato Ganesha). This generous gesture benefits the children in Tanjung Kling in the State of Melaka (District 3310).
RCPV Donates Projection System to assist Legal Aid

Aug 16th, 2004. At our regular meeting in KLGCC, the Rotary Club of Pantai Valley, through Rotarian Vincent Lau (AV Business Systems Sdn Bhd), has confirmed a donation/sponsorship of a projection system to the Women's Aid Organisation.

Road Safety Vision Screening Project

Purpose: To design, print and educate the public on a special purpose screening for driver safety. It will involve vision screening for distance and near, colour vision, binocular vision, visual field and other minimum standards required for driving safety

Status: The Prototype of the Special Eye Chart Designs are in progress by the Medical Researcher. Completion is expected in end August'04.

US Sailors in Community Service Project with RC Pantai Valley

The Seventh Fleet command-and-control ship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) departed Port Klang, Malaysia Feb. 6 after completing a routine three-day port visit. Sailors from the Seventh Fleet staff and Blue Ridge took part in a wide array of activities while in Malaysia ranging from a Seventh Fleet Band performance in the nearby metropolis of Kuala Lumpur, to a community service project at a local children’s home (in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Pantai Valley). Pantai Valley heads Rotary International Matched Clubs Centennial Green Project at Childrens' Refuge

The "Centennial Green Project" kicked of at the Women's Aid Organisation (WAO) children's refuge, .......Over 60 Rotarians, and their family members from 4 different Rotary Clubs, representing 4 countries participated in this project. ...as we help give "culture for the mind... and freedom for their spirits"....(Click on article)

Official Club Delegation to Renew Ties with RC Tyan Chung in Taiwan June'05

This 2004-05 offical club visit to the taiwan sister club took place from 28 June - 30 June 2005. There are currently 9 people in the delegation. Amongst members in the delegation are President Michael, PE Charlie, Incoming ISD James Ooi, etc. The installation dinner for our Taiwan sister club is on 29th June 2005.

RCPV Centennial Twin with RC Victoria Park, Perth

Oct 7th, 2004 - International Service Director Dr.Arthur Samuel signed and sealed the Centennial Twin Club Relationship with RC Victoria Park Perth, in his visit there in August. Our clubs were drawn together by Rtn Bhagwan who is currently their member. Baghwan was previously a Rotarian in RC Gombak, and later went on as one of the Charter members of RC Kepong (as it is formerly known). He came across our club through this website!

International Fellowship BBQ at Dr.Arthur's Home

Saturday, 17 July 2004. Ending off the eventful weekend, which peaked at the 9th Installation Celebrations (Westin) and the Centennial Green Project (Children's Refuge), the Rotary Club of Pantai Valley kicked back, relaxed and enjoyed a fellowship night together with our international guests at the palatial home of Dr.Arthur & Ann Romela. We were treated to a spread of BBQ, fine spirits and laughter by the pool side. Many Rotarians were present with their families.  Over 50 people were present. Pres.Michael took the occasion to present bottles of wine, as a token of thanks to ISD Dr.Arthur and PP.Lawrence for graciously hosting the various international sister clubs over the entire week.click on article for story & photos

Intercity RC Pantai Valley and RC Ampang Oct 15

RC Pantai Valley and RC Ampang held an Intercity on Oct 15th, 2004 to welcome the Rotary Club of Pandan Valley, Singapore (District 3310). This took take place at the Holiday Villa (Jalan Ampang). In the fine session, more than RM1,000 was raised in support of Pandan Valley's community service project in Thailand.
